Ancient Irrigation Pots

Native irrigation pots, or "ollas", have been used for over 2,000 years. They are buried up to the neck of the pot in the ground or potting container. Once filled with water, they naturally irrigate or release the water to the root system of any plants growing in their vicinity. The consistent water supply of buried clay pots improves germination, increases crop growth, speeds maturity, reduces diseases, and increases yields, even in places with very high temperatures, low humidity, and desiccating winds. They can also be effective in sandy or gravelly soils that drain very quickly and with salty or alkaline water or soil. The larger the pot, the greater the surrounding irrigation area it creates. Ancient gardens would use hundreds at a time to facilitate a natural irrigation system for large growing fields. Using Olla pots helps produce a higher crop yield, prevents water loss, and advances the natural balance of earth and water.

We've partnered with original native potters to develop and recreate authentic native clay irrigation Ollas, the most complete irrigation system ever known. Our olla irrigation pots are hand-made using ancient, native sourced materials. That, combined with ancient tradition and wisdom passed down through the millennial make these ancient pots truly unique. The dried, buried gourd-shaped olla design, combined with the native clay mixture, creates incredible harmony with all plants and vegetation.

Our original native design incorporates the ancient understanding of proper clay density and the proper ancient firing technique necessary to create just the right porosity for ultimate irrigation. We incorporate the native soil from our ranch in northern Arizona, along with other sacred components, to recreate the only truly ancient native irrigation pot available.

Currently, our olla pots are available in 10, 16, and 42 ounce pot sizes.
